We established Adeline’s Kitchen originally to offer free retreats to not for profit groups working to preserve the values of equity, tolerance and environmental protection which make us proud to be Americans.  During COVID we reimagined it as temporary housing to support refugees while they are getting on their feet. It is a tranquil and beautiful launch pad for life in America. People have moved on after getting their social security cards.  Since it is difficult though legal for those with humanitarian parole to work in the United States this is a great place to live while waiting for employment permission and employment.

Our program includes support both while you are at the Cottage and as you move on.

Sparrow Bush New York is in the Delaware River Valley about 70 miles from New York City.

It’s about a two-hour drive from New York, or a 3-hour drive from Philadelphia. The Port Jervis line on New Jersey Transit ends about a 15 minute drive from our location. The area is rustic — depending on the season, you may see eagles overhead, deer may visit the lawns, hummingbirds may visit the feeders on the porch. The website for our B&B has links to many community activities if you want to know more about the area.

Adeline was an American woman who made people feel special through amazing home cooked meals and generous hospitality. She demanded that we give life our best in return. Her love and welcoming spirit lives on in all of those who were welcomed into her kitchen.
