WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Adeline's Kitchen offers weekday overnight retreats to qualified social change groups at our gorgeous rural country Bed and Breakfeast.
Adeline’s Kitchen was established by the owners of The Cottage in the Pines, a B&B and retreat center close to New York and Philadelphia, and accessible on New Jersey Transit or by car. We established the program to support groups working to preserve the values of equity, tolerance, and environmental protection which make us proud to be Americans, and which are under attack in ways we never thought would happen.
We offer, without charge, our accommodations, buildings and grounds for mid-week retreats for social change organizations. With comfortable bedrooms and two large common rooms suitable for meetings of up to 20 people, teams can get together in an environment which fosters creativity. We are located on a 100 acre parcel adjacent to state land, with walking trails, streams, and dirt roads — because sometimes the best thinking isn’t done indoors.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Not for profit organizations addressing issues of poverty, immigration, gender equality, environment or the arts are eligible to apply.
We are happy to consider applications from well-established organizations seeking a staff or leadership retreat, as well as from less-structured groups looking to engage in team or community building. Please fill out the application in this website to tell us more about yourself.
We can make this offer available about 20 weeks per year. Let us know your desired time frame, and any flexibility you may have.
We will not charge your organization for the program; we will ask you to sign an agreement that you won’t damage the property, and to put a $1000 security deposit on a credit card.
WHERE WE ARE
1200 Route 42
Sparrow Bush, NY 12780
Sparrow Bush New York is in the Delaware River Valley about 70 miles from New York City.
It’s about a two-hour drive from New York, or a 3-hour drive from Philadelphia. The Port Jervis line on New Jersey Transit ends about a 15 minute drive from our location. The area is rustic — depending on the season, you may see eagles overhead, deer may visit the lawns, hummingbirds may visit the feeders on the porch. The website for our B&B has links to many community activities if you want to know more about the area.
Adeline's Kitchen has a simple, open application process. Just fill out the form, and we will be in touch with you shortly.
Any interested organizations are invited to apply. Our application process is designed to be as simple and streamlined as possible. Just tell us who you are, what your organization does, and what your team's objectives in organizing a retreat are. Other details can be found in the application form linked below.
